Our Story
Our family’s story began with two brothers who came to Australia in search of the chance to build a better future. They married, raised families, and worked side by side in fish & chip shops, learning the trade through hard work, long hours, and doing everything by hand.
From peeling potatoes and cutting chips to preparing potato cakes from scratch, the work was demanding and the days were long, often stretching across all seven days of the week. Behind that effort was something bigger: the hope of creating a good life, building opportunity for their children, and turning sacrifice into something lasting.
That spirit still guides us today. Generations later, the tradition they started continues in the products we make and the pride we take in making them well.
And, perhaps that is what we are most proud of. Not just the products we make but the story behind them. A story of two brothers, a dream, and a family that never stopped believing in the value of hard work and good food.
We think you can taste that in every bite. That is what Munch n Crunch is made of.

The natural slice difference
Our natural slice potato cake is the clearest expression of that tradition. Made from a real slice of potato, dipped in batter and cooked, it stays true to the classic fish & chip shop style rather than relying on a formed mash product made with flakes, binders, and extra ingredients.
We are proud to source our potatoes from a local farm near our Melbourne based facility, Durkin Produce. A fellow generational family operation that shares our belief in hard work, quality, and tradition. For us, it means working with people who care about their craft as much as we care about ours.
The result is a less processed product with a more authentic bite, real potato texture, and the kind of simple quality that speaks for itself. It is a product made for the way people enjoy potato cakes today, while staying true to the tradition they have always loved.
Our natural slice potato cakes are cooked in canola oil - an oil the Australian Heart Foundation includes among the better choices for cooking. Rich in unsaturated fats, including monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats, canola oil is recommended as part of a heart-healthy eating pattern in place of fats higher in saturated fat.
